Avinox is the e-bike drive system of DJI, the Shenzhen drone maker, launched in July 2024 on DJI's own Amflow PL eMTB. Its M2S motor, announced in April 2026, reaches 150 Nm and 1,500 W peak from a 2.6 kg unit rated at 250 W, level with the Bafang M560RS in Boost and 50 Nm above the Bosch Performance Line CX, and by October 2026 Avinox listed 24 bike brands as partners. Avinox drives are designed and built in Shenzhen.

DJI Entered E-Bike Drives in 2024 With Its Own Amflow PL eMTB

DJI announced Avinox and the Amflow PL on July 3, 2024, and showed both at Eurobike 2024.

DJI built Avinox from the motor, battery and stabilization work behind its drones and camera gimbals. Amflow, a bike brand founded in 2023 and incubated by DJI, served as the launch customer and showcase. The first Amflow PL was a carbon full-suspension eMTB with Fox 36 and Float X Factory suspension, 27.5- or 29-inch wheels and a claimed weight of 19.2 kg, sold with a 600 Wh or 800 Wh battery.

The launch motor, later called the M1, gave 105 Nm and 850 W in normal modes and 120 Nm and 1,000 W in a 30-second Boost mode from a 2.52 kg unit. A May 2025 firmware update raised Turbo peak power to 1,000 W and stretched Boost to 60 seconds on Amflow, Unno, Forbidden and Megamo bikes already sold.

In a March 2025 interview with Bike Europe, Avinox product experience director Ferdinand Wolf said more than 60 people worked on the project, that research, development and production sat mainly at DJI headquarters in Shenzhen, and that a DJI office in Frankfurt handled European after-sales service. At Eurobike 2026 Bike Magazin described Avinox as a DJI subsidiary.

Avinox announced the M2 and M2S on April 9, 2026, and both fit frames built for the M1. The M2S adds cooling fins and internal temperature monitoring, and a dual-meshing gear design that Avinox says cuts pedal kickback noise; both units are specified to run below 45 dBA. Assist modes are Eco, Trail, Turbo and Auto, plus Boost, which holds the top torque for up to 60 seconds and can be cut to 10 seconds in the app. Since a June 2026 update, Boost can engage on its own when the bike detects a climb. Maximum assistance is 800% of rider input.

Peak power on the M2S depends on the battery. Bikes with the integrated FP700 pack reach 1,500 W in Trail, Auto and Turbo; bikes with FS600 or FS800 packs stop at 1,300 W. The ebike-lab dyno measured 1,450 W from an M2S on an FP700 at 100 to 110 rpm. Paired with SRAM Transmission, the motor can drive the chainring so the bike shifts while coasting.

The MG Concept combines a motor with a continuously variable transmission covering a 520% gear range, with shifts under 0.1 second. Avinox showed it at Eurobike 2026 in frame prototypes from Canyon, Commencal, Forbidden, Megamo and Mondraker and plans series production in 2027.

Batteries, display and app

The 2024 system offered only fixed 600 Wh and 800 Wh packs; removable packs arrived with the M2 generation in 2026, and dual-battery setups are supported. The FP700 reaches 220 Wh/kg. A gallium nitride fast charger took the original 800 Wh pack from zero to 75% in about 1.5 hours. On the 2027 Canyon Spectral:ON CF, the standard 4 A charger fills the FP700 from zero to 80% in three hours 54 minutes and the optional 12 A charger in one hour 16 minutes.

  • Display: a 2-inch OLED touchscreen set into the top tube, used with a wireless handlebar controller; the 2026 displays add turn-by-turn navigation from routes imported into the app.
  • App: Avinox Ride sets assist modes, torque and Boost duration, installs firmware and sets the motor's region.
  • Heart-rate assist: with a Bluetooth heart-rate monitor connected, the motor adjusts support to hold a target heart-rate zone.
  • Security: Apple Find My network support and app-based locking.
  • Drivetrains: works with SRAM and Shimano electronic shifting.

At Sea Otter Europe in 2026, Bike Magazin also saw Avinox bikes from Ducati, Berria, Massi, Kross, Lee Cougan and Rali, and Bike Europe reported more than 60 brands developing Avinox models. Every confirmed Avinox bike so far is a full-power eMTB. In 2025 DJI said it planned city, touring and cargo applications.

US market

The FCC's December 2025 Drone Action Left Avinox E-Bike Sales in the US Untouched

On December 22, 2025, the FCC added foreign-made unmanned aircraft systems and UAS critical components to its Covered List.

The Covered List entry blocks FCC equipment authorization for new foreign-made drone models and drone components, which in turn bars their import and sale in the US. It leaves previously authorized models on sale and covers drones and their components only; it names no e-bike products. DroneXL reported that DJI's e-bike and robotics divisions faced no such restrictions. New Avinox electronics with Bluetooth or cellular radios, such as displays, still need their own FCC authorization before sale.

Amflow sells in the US direct through its own website. It ran its first US promotion over November and December 2025 on the PL Carbon and PL Carbon Pro, launched the PX and PR series at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California, in April 2026, and had the largest booth at that show. Pivot Cycles of Arizona builds the Shuttle AMP'd around the M2S. In May 2026 Specialized cut Levo prices in North America and named Amflow among the new entrants with lower pricing.

US tariffs on Chinese goods introduced in 2025 forced price increases across the bike industry, according to Bike Europe's Sea Otter 2026 report. No Avinox-specific tariff action or exemption has been published.
